Yesterday I accepted a position with our Software Center of Excellence based in Fort Worth Texas. The position was offered and accepted to allow me to stay in Michigan, I will be working remotely and will travel to TX and L.A. California as needed. I am so scared that I am going to fail miserably!
This is a brand new start-up business for my company. Historically all the software that was used in the designs was developed at each site that was making the product. But it has been decided that it will be more cost effective to have one dedicated group of Engineers be responsible for developing or having the software developed for all of the Aerospace group – and that is the SWCoE. I am excited to be a part of this venture. I can’t wait to see what we do! But being that it is a new start up we only have a couple years to prove ourselves worthy and then we are going to be expected to be making money just like every other organization – so this grace period is important to get a good business foundation in place. We have a great group of guys that sit in Michigan with me and there are at least 5-6 more in Fort Worth, and I think 2 or 3 more in L.A. I have met and worked with most of the guys (and 2 gals) in TX, I know of one or two of the three in L.A. and I think we will do very well under the direction of our Director. he really seems to know what we need to do, but I’m still scared
On to my health – my latest blood draw showed that my meds are pretty good right where they are – We will see if that stays the same for very long. The Doctor had suspected that the thyroid was coming back and if it is it will continue to increase my natural levels and the synthetic levels will need to be dropped back farther, but for now there seems be a balance.
Its the holiday weekend and I have taken Tuesday off as well so I get to be as lazy as I want to be. Which may mean sleeping or laying in the sun by the pool or maybe planting in the yard – either way I don’t HAVE to do anything until Wednesday.
Have a great Holiday!
